Despite the fact that the phone is still running EMUI 9.1 and the company keeps on sending new software updates for the Honor Play 3e, which is quite impressive.

Honor Play 3e with model KSA-AL10  is getting a new software update with EMUI to build version 9.1.0.210, upgrading from EMUI 9.1.0.206. The changelog reveals that the phone is getting a new Petal Light Tour app as well as new network optimizations as well as system stability improvements for Honor Play 3e.

To be mentioned, this is not the only old smartphone to get these new improvements as there are other EMUI 9.1 devices incorporated with such ability.

• This update will not delete your data, but it is still recommended that you back up all important data to the PC or the cloud (please do not back up to the internal storage space of the phone) before the upgrade, and confirm that the backup content is complete and valid.
• After the upgrade, the system will perform self-optimization, which may cause the phone to generate some heat, fast power consumption, freezing, or slow charging. It will return to normal after 2-3 days. It is recommended to charge the phone with the screen off for over 2 hours after the upgrade is complete (it is best to charge it overnight with the screen off), and then restart the phone to ensure that the mobile phone application is quickly adapted.
• After the update is complete, the system will restart, please wait patiently for about five minutes.

Aside from the security patch, the update doesn’t mention any other changes in the changelog of this firmware rollout. However, you should note that the phone is still running EMUI 9.1 which should have been upgraded to HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system.

How to update:

Despite all of the assumptions, Honor Play 3e users can download the latest firmware by visiting Settings > System > Software updates > then follow the on-screen instructions. This will fetch down the available software update and downloaded it directly on your device.

Still, there are some precautions that you need to keep while downloading this software update. First, you need to make sure that the device is not rooted, second, the update won’t delete any of your phone’s files but it’s recommended to create a backup of important data for such mishappenings.

The entire update procedure may take some time, so, let the phone do the process and sit easy. To be mentioned, the upgrade procedure may cause random heat, fast power consumption, a freeze of slow charging. Thereafter, the system will start to settle down for regular use cases once the update is completed.

HarmonyOS 2.0 for Honor devices

Keeping its promise, Huawei is upgrading the eligible Honor devices to the latest HarmonyOS 2.0 software. Following the beta activity, many of the Honor devices have even received the stable version.

However, the new HM OS is currently limited in the Chinese market, While the users outside China are eagerly waiting for this new software to arrive. Looking at the impressive speed of rollout, the company may soon release this software globally.

How to check for updates?

Via Settings:

You can check for new updates from Settings >> System & Updates. Then navigate to Software update and select Check for updates. If found any updates then, click on Download and install.

Via Support app:

To check for new updates from the Support app, open the application >> Service tab. Then tap on the Update button, then select Check for updates. Then finally tap on Download and install.

Note: After the installation is complete, restart the device

HOW TO UPDATE:

To download this update manually, go to Settings then System, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop-up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.

Alternatively, you can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.

1. Currently, this update is rolling in China.
2. The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time/days to reach your device.

And now Honor has decided to send a new update to the Honor Play 3 and Play 3e in China. This update improves systems security with March and February security updates respectively.

According to the information, the new update for Honor Play 3 and Play 3e also brings optimizations for some songs apps for the better audio experience.

March 2020 security update for Honor Play 3 installs fixes for 1 critical and 20 high levels of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE). The February security update for Play 3e fixes 2 critical and 20 high levels of CVEs.

One of the critical CVE-2020-0022 AKA BlueFrag is also fixed with the February update, which allows silent code execution on the device that leads to data theft and spreading malware.

Honor Play 3 series EMUI versions:

The latest update for Honor Play 3 comes with EMUI version 9.1.0.181 from 9.1.0.151. Honor Play 3e grabs its update with EMUI 9.1.0.150 an upgrade from EMUI 9.1.0.130.

Honor will launch the Honor Play 4T series on April 9 in China. However, the company didn’t reveal any additional information about these devices but we’ve got additional inputs thanks to a well-known tipster from Weibo.

According to the tipster, the Honor Play 4T will come with a 6.3-inch FHD+ OLED display with a waterdrop notch design. It equips 7nm Kirin 820 SoC, 4000mAh battery and 22.5W fast charging.

The phone comes with a 16MP front camera and a triple rear camera setup consisting of 48MP + 8MP + 2MP cameras. The camera design is in a rectangular shape, similar to the previously launched Honor 30S. It’s 7.75mm thick and 163g total in weight.

The Honor Play 4T doesn’t seem to have a rear or side fingerprint scanner and may have included an in-screen fingerprint scanner. As shown in the Render linked below, the phone has at least two color of Blue and Green.
