January 2023 security update began to rollout for the global model of the Huawei P40 series and Mate 40 Pro smartphone to bring up more security for these EMUI 12 powered devices.

According to the information, the latest security patch brings improvements to the smartphone and software capability. On the other hand, the January 2023 security update with a build version of 12.0.0.300 for the Huawei P40 series and Mate 40 Pro.

However, there are no other major changes mentioned in the changelog. On the flip side, the January 2023 EMUI security patch fixes 4 issues in critical condition, 24 vulnerabilities in high mode, and 7 issues in the medium level. On the other hand, the security patch also includes fixes CVEs that were included in the December 2022 EMUI security updates.

Huawei has already seeded January 2023 security patch on EMUI 12 powered P50 Pro and the Nova 7 5G. Such software updates are essential to the smartphone and it’s suggested that the corresponding models download the latest available firmware.

EMUI 13:

Aside from the security patch, Huawei’s top flagship smartphones are waiting for the EMUI 13 software update, which is packed with new features. However, Huawei has not released any information on this matter.

How to update:

Huawei P40 series and Mate 40 Pro users can download the latest software update by visiting the software update section, opening up Settings > tapping on System & update > clicking Software updates > and CHECK FOR UPDATES.

You should know that this update will not delete your personal data and we suggest that you back up all important data before updating.

If you face any issues during the update, call the Huawei customer hotline or visit a Huawei customer service center. The update package will be automatically deleted after the update is complete.

Huawei P40 and Mate 40 Pro are one of the last Huawei flagships to feature 5G functionality. These Huawei phones will have to wait just a little bit longer to get the latest EMUI version.

Huawei is sending Turbo charge mode for various flagship devices in China, these phones run HarmonyOS 3 operating system. Meanwhile, the Huawei Mate 40 series has also become the latest line to grab the Turbo charge feature.

According to the latest information, the Huawei Mate 40 series is receiving HarmonyOS version 3.0.0.192 version and there’s an update package size of 1.17GB to download.

Other than Turbo charge mode, the Huawei Mate 40 series is receiving improvements for display, and app optimizations for the App Twin feature and it installs December 2022 HarmonyOS security patches.

These are major improvements and features, but Huawei Mate 40 (standard version) is not eligible to get Turbo charge mode. However, the other optimizations and improvements for Mate 40 are the same as the Pro version.

The changelog reveals that the latest software update rolling out for the following models:

  • Mate 40 – OCE-AN10
  • Mate 40 Pro – NOH-AN00
  • Mate 40 Pro – NOH-AN01
  • Mate 40 Pro – NOH-AL00/NOH-AL10
  • Mate 40 Pro+ – NOP-AN00
  • Mate 40 RS Porsche Design – NOP-AN00

Global:

Huawei Mate 40 series global models are currently running EMUI 12 software. For the time being, it’s not confirmed whether this will rollout for global smartphones.

There are a few things that you should know before you upgrade to the latest version. Make sure that the phone does not have ROOT. You can upgrade to version 3.0.0.192 online after receiving the OTA package.

This software is rolling in batches. In order to check the latest firmware, you need to visit Settings > System and Updates > Software Updates > Check for Updates to upgrade.

This software update will not delete user data but it is still recommended that you back up all important data to your PC or cloud (please do not back up to the internal storage space of your phone) before upgrading. Do confirm backup data before proceeding to installation.

After the upgrade, the software will perform self-optimization and adaptation, which may cause the phone to sometimes experience heat generation, fast power consumption, freezing or slow charging.

The phone will return to regular after 2-3 days of normal use. It is recommended to charge the phone with the screen off for more than 2 hours after the upgrade is complete (it is best to charge it overnight with the screen off), and then restart the phone to ensure that the mobile phone application is quickly adapted.

Huawei is expanding the reach of the December 2022 EMUI security update for the Mate 40 Pro smartphone to Europe. The company initiated this rollout a few days ago and it improves the phone’s security.

According to Huaweiblog, Huawei Mate 40 Pro users in Europe is getting December 2022 update with EMUI version 12.0.0.296. Similar to the initial release, phone users are grabbing this firmware gradually.

However, the European users of the phone are also waiting for the EMUI 13 rollout but the company has not revealed an exact date for the roadmap or the eligible devices.

Huawei is rolling out December 2022 update for the Mate 40 Pro smartphone in the global market that comes with the latest EMUI security patches for the flagship device.

As for now, Huawei Mate 40 Pro is receiving December 2022 update with EMUI firmware version 12.0.0.296. It is rolling out in batches and it will be available gradually among users in different markets.

Huawei is releasing the November 2022 security patch with a new EMUI software update for the Mate 40 Pro smartphone users. The fresh improvement patch aims to enhance the security system with useful fixes and optimizations.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro is one of the finest flaghip that you can grab in the smartphone market as it comes with a variety of new features and design aesthetics. However, the 2020 Huawei Mate 40 Pro is about to get a relaunch without Leica.

Noting the reports online, Huawei has responded to Chinese media that the recertified 5G model is the Mate 40 Pro. It is further revealed that the product details are now changed and need to be re-certified via TENAA.

What has been changed?

The product specs are likely to remain the same but Huawei Mate 40 Pro will re-launch without Leica. One change that Huawei is making on its top models. As previously, we’ve seen that Huawei made such a change in Huawei P50 Pro.

Meanwhile, the Huawei Mate 50 series comes with an XMAGE imaging system after both firms went separate ways.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro:

Huawei Mate 40 Pro comes in five colors – Silver, White, Black, Olive, and Orange. These also include leather, glass, and frost back. The phone equips a 6.76-inch screen, 16.7 million colors, DCI-P3 wide color gamut, OLED type, supports up to 90Hz refresh rate, 240 Hz touch sampling rate, FHD+ 2772 x 1344 pixel resolution.

The phone is powered by a 5nm Kirin 9000 chipset with octa-core architecture (Octa-core, 1 x Cortex-A77 at 3.13 GHz + 3 x Cortex-A77 at 2.54 GHz + 4 x Cortex-A55 at 2.05 GHz), the SoC has 24 core Mali-G78. It has NPU with Dual large-core NPU + micro-core NPU (Neural Network Processing Unit).

Huawei Mate 40 Pro comes with a quad rear camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel super-sensing camera (wide-angle, f/1.9 aperture), 20-megapixel cine camera (f/1.8 aperture), and 12-megapixel telephoto camera (f/3.4 aperture, supports OIS optical image stabilization).

On the front side, it offers a 13-megapixel super-sensing camera (f/2.4 aperture) and a 3D depth camera with fixed focus.

Coming to the battery, this flagship will offer a 4400mAh battery with a 66W charger and 50W wireless charging support.

Huawei has opened a new Storage upgrade service for the Mate 40 series devices including Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40E 5G, and Mate 40E has now joined the ‘Storage upgrade’ service to upgrade space for older models.

In terms of pricing, the storage upgrade of models starts at 389 yuan, but the basic models that can be upgraded at 389 yuan are old models such as the Mate 9 series, Mate10 series, Mate20 series, P10 series, Honor 9, Honor 10, and more. The Mate 40 Pro has a minimum price of 559 yuan and a maximum of 1199 yuan to upgrade the internal storage.

On October 18, Huawei certified a new smartphone with model number NOH-AN80 and it comes with 5G, which is quite surprising. The product has been certified with Telecommunication Equipment’s Network Access Managements (TENAA).

According to the listing, the Huawei NOH-AN80 is certified with dual sim card support with dual standby. On the other hand, it has NR NSA / NR SA / TD-LTE / LTE FDD / WCDMA / cdma2000 / CDMA 1X / GSM standards.

Furthermore, there is also support for 5G-enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) technology, equipped with the HarmonyOS operating system.

Currently, the identity of this phone remains unknown but as per the previous report, Huawei the series NOH is related to the Mate 40 Pro models. Could this be a new 5G Huawei Mate 40 series addon or something new? We’ll get to know soon.

Launched in 2020, the Huawei Mate 40 series is the last flaghip device that comes with 5G and was the first in the world to feature a 5nm chipset. It consists of four models – Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+, and Mate 40 RS Porsche Design.

However, the new-gen – Mate 50 series only comes with 4G, still, Huawei has to boast this phone with a variety of features and hardware specs that allow you to enjoy it on the vastest level possible.
