Huawei has released the January 2023 software update for the Huawei Nova Y90 and Y70 smartphones in the global market, and this firmware clearly improves these phones’ security aspects for a better user experience.

Both Huawei Nova Y90 and Y70 runs EMUI 12 out of the box but it would be interesting if the company could have sent EMUI 13 instead of the security patch. Speaking of which, no one knows, when Huawei will rollout EMUI 13 for global users for the time being.

Coming back to the rollout, January 2023 security update for Huawei Nova Y90 and Nova Y70 comes with EMUI version 12.0.1.177 and EMUI 12.0.1.202. This update is suggested to install on all of the devices sold marketed outside of China and will appear in batches.

We suggest the corresponding users look into the settings > then open System & updates, followed by a Software update, and then tap on CHECK FOR UPDATES.  You can download the latest firmware also from the My Huawei app.

You should know that the update won’t erase your personal data but it is suggested for you back up any important data before updating the device. On the other hand, the package will be deleted automatically once the installation succeeds.

Thanks to the tipster for this amazing information, Masterpiece.

It’s been two long years of the Huawei Watch 3 series launch and it seems like Huawei has finally begun the preparations for the upcoming Huawei Watch 4 lineup, as its codename is now leaked.

Huawei Watch series recently completed the WiFi certification with the codename ARC (Arch) and MDS (Medusa) for Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro respectively. However, there are no specifications or details available about any of these models at the moment.

Past leaks:

A few days ago, a mysterious watch model appeared on the Huawei Health app with AOD-B19, which is likely to be a brand new smartwatch lineup but none of the information has been confirmed from the official channel so far.

Looking at the fact that Huawei Watch 3 series has some first-time technologies in smartwatches, we are expecting a better battery life with the upcoming duo.

Huawei Watch 3 series:

Huawei Watch 3 and 3 Pro are the first smartwatch to feature the HarmonyOS operating system. Other than that, the lineup has unique native LTE connectivity, which allows you to make calls and quickly reply to the SMS.

Huawei Watch 3 devices are a mixture of all of the past released smartwatches and a combination of design and aesthetics in one package.

In terms of standalone connectivity, Huawei Watch 3 series provides eSIM service, through which, you can share the phone number as well as voice and data plans between the smartphone and smartwatch.

That’s not it, Huawei Watch 3 models offer important map and taxi services right into the wrist. Furthermore, it’s the first smartwatch to support third-party app installation directly from AppGallery.

Moreover, Huawei Watch 3 has a big library of workout modes and fitness activities, it has Skin temperature detection, heart rate monitoring, SpO2, sleep tracking, and more. The Huawei Watch 3 Pro offers an ultra-long battery life, that could go up to 5 days back up in a smart mode and 21 days in ultra-long battery mode.

We hope that Huawei Watch 4 series will get us some big upgrades over its predecessor and we’ll keep you posted on the developments.

Huawei has one of the best camera technologies in the smartphone industry but there’s a camera feature that has now appeared in the patent that could tell you to protect your face from the sun.

Recently, China’s intellectual property office published a patent with application number CN115700841A and it has the title “Detection Method and Electronic Equipment”, which was applied on August 31, 2021.

Looking into the technical details, this technology uses an ultraviolet camera and an RGB camera, which collect UV-mapped images and color tones respectively. Then it matches the first area in the recognized ultraviolet image to the color image to improve the user experience.

That’s not it, there’s a visual representation of the entire scenario that showcases the camera can catch ultraviolet images from different angles and combines the information to process inside a dedicated application.

The app then improves the accuracy of the input and provides a refined result and guidance for the user. This is similar to a makeup app, you just need to open the sunscreen app, then tap on the shutter button and then the camera will do the rest of the work.

Huawei camera face sun

Once proceed the Huawei UV camera feature will tell you about the facial statics and may also highlight the area that needs sunscreen to protect the face from harmful sun rays.

Such features are a breakthrough for the smartphone industry but it would require you to manually record the facial data. Also, it would require additional camera hardware alongside the selfie camera.

To be mentioned, it would be interesting if the tech could be included in the face lock and show the statics on the lock screen.

The Huawei P60 series has now appeared on Geekbench, which shows Huawei is conducting pre-launch tests and preparations. A model from this lineup features Android 13 and Snapdragon 778 chipset.

According to the Geekbench listing, the Huawei smartphone model MNA-AL00 on Geekbench achieved 551 single-core scores and 2312 multi-core scores. The phone has an octa-core processor with 4 cores running 1.8GHz and the other four at 2.40GHz.

Furthermore, the listing says that the MNA-AL00 has Adreno 642L GPU, which is used in Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset.

The Huawei phone is tested with 8GB of RAM and interestingly, it is coupled with Android 13, which is a rare use of the software. Because Huawei is likely to use HarmonyOS 3.1 in the Huawei P60 lineup and it’s possible that the latest open-source library in the software has been updated, while HarmonyOS 3.0 had Android 12.

Huawei p60 Series Geekbench

Identity:

Earlier last month, the Huawei P60 series visited China’s Telecommunication Equipment’s Network Access Management (TENAA) with models MNA-AL00 and LNA-AL00. It was predicted that these two could be the standard P60 and the Pro version respectively.

So, is the above-mentioned Geekbench model is standard Huawei P60? Probably. Why? because last year, Huawei launched a new P50 series model – P50E and it featured Snapdragon 778.

Moreover, the Huawei P60 series is also reported to come with a P60E model, given the fact that MNA-AL00 also uses the same processor, it is possible to come as Huawei P60E and not the standard version. However, we don’t have any confirmation on this matter.

Huawei P50E Pink Sale

Huawei P60 series:

Past information reveals that the Huawei P60 series will come with a brand-new imaging system, XMAGE. Other than that, the camera will bring a new design. Aside from these, Huawei could use the latest hardware and software features.

The report suggests that the Huawei P60 series will launch in March but we are waiting for an official confirmation.

As of the first month of 2023, Huawei has a variety of smartwatches that are already launched among consumers but it seems like there’s one new unique smartwatch lineup that could soon make its debut.

According to the inputs, Huawei has listed a mysterious new smartwatch lineup on the Huawei Health app with model – AOD-H1. First, we thought of being the upcoming Huawei Watch GT 4 or Watch 4 Series but there’s no confirmation found on the Huawei Health app.

Then a founding revealed that it may not be one of those, instead, Huawei could plan a whole new smartwatch lineup with brand new features.

How?

B19 is the consistent code name of all Huawei smartwatches, for example:

  • SGA-B19 for BUDS
  • AND-B19 for Cyber
  • MIL-B19 for GT 3
  • RUN-B19 for GT Runner

And this doesn’t include the mainstream lineup.

Huawei’s former subsidiary Honor has always used B39 and B19 Example: MUS-B19 corresponds to GS3, and HBE-B39 corresponds to MagicWatch.

Huawei new smartwatch lineup

AOD:

So, AOD-H1 could be an Always on Display (AOD) dedicated smartwatch lineup? Probably, as the industry already has such smart wearables that support this display-oriented technology. However, there’s some room for high battery life and new display tech that could drive consumers’ attention, such as high resolution.

Or it could be a high-end outdoor smartwatch ready for a certain type of user. On the flip side, it may be a new smart band. Yes, possibly but not certain.

Past Launches:

Over the past year, Huawei has done a lot of experiments in the world of smartwatches such as Watch GT Cyber, which brings detachable dial functionality. The Huawei Watch Buds lets you store two wireless earbuds inside the watch face and you can flip it open just like an earbuds case to house those earphones.

Watch GT Runner is a prime example of fulfilling a specific type of consumer filled with lots of tracking exercises.

For now, there’s no official announcement available about the AOD-H1 but we’ll keep you posted.

We’ve entered the second month of this year and Huawei is still expanding January 2023 EMUI security update for the global P50 Pro. Meanwhile, the wait for EMUI 13 has now become unpredictable for the users.

Huaweiblog reports that Huawei is expanding the reach of the January 2023 software update for P50 Pro global users with EMUI version 12.0.1.290 and it comes with 358 megabytes of OTA package size. The upgrade will bring a new set of security patches for the smartphone.

Similar to the initial rollout, we’ve not noticed any new feature in the changelog. However, the main concern of Huawei smartphone users stands still as EMUI 13 because the phone will be the first to install new firmware.

But the fact is that Huawei has not yet published the EMUI 13 roadmap, which is splitting the views of Huawei smartphone owners.

EMUI 13 comes with a variety of new features that installs a brand new user experience for the consumers. Speaking of which, this software will let you grab a new smart folder with a variable layout, as well as service widgets group and stacking. On the other side, Huawei P50 Pro users will be able to use swipe-up gestures.

All of these features are exciting but we’re still bound to wait as there is no confirmation available on the next EMUI version.

You can download the latest software update via Settings > System & updates > then tap on Software update and follow the on-screen instructions. You can also request a new version via My Huawei app.
