Today, Huawei launched the Blue Whale app store along with other enterprise solutions including Computing Storage OceanStor 2910 and the new FusionCube hyper coverage infrastructure, which is the latest storage product for the industry.

The latest revealings come at the “Hyper-convergence +” strategy and new product launch conference held on February 8, 2023. According to the information, the Huawei Blue Whale app store is related to Huwaei FusionCube hyper-converged and computing storage as a smartphone and connects the devices.

It supports one-click deployment and daily operation as well as maintenance of partner companies’ apps to ensure access for all partners. According to the inputs, Huawei Blue Whale App Store has three top-grade features, fast app availability, app smartphone operation, and effective maintenance.

The custom deployment template of the Huawei Blue Whale App Store allows the virtualization specifications of the application, the dependencies of the application software package, and more.

It can be defined in advance so that it only takes 1 step and 1 parameter to deploy the application, and it takes 1 hour It can be completed, greatly improving the deployment efficiency of the business system. The batch launch of multiple applications in one solution can also be completed through custom orchestration components.

By integrating applications and IT infrastructure through the Huawei Blue Whale App Store, you can use only one set of software to complete the full-stack management of the entire business system.

For example, through the full-stack topology view, you can identify the specific node of the system failure at a glance.

Huawei Blue Whale App Store

At the same time, the platform also supports cloud intelligent operation and maintenance and mobile phone remote operation and maintenance. Once a problem occurs in the system, the relevant alarm information can be received in real-time on the smartphone to help service personnel quickly solve the problem and ensure efficient, continuous, and stable operation of the system.

Based on the deep integration of enterprise applications and IT infrastructure, Huawei Blue App Store defines 12 acceptance indicators to ensure the delivery quality of application solutions. Huawei’s Blue Whale app store has settled in 50+ mainstream applications in various industries, and it is expected that more than 120+ mainstream applications will be launched in 2023.

It is revealed that Hyper-convergence is an emerging technical architecture that manages storage, computing, and network resources distributed on each device in a unified manner, and at the same time realizes intelligent operation and maintenance of resources through a tool platform.

This technology has become one of the mainstream construction modes of data centers. Hyper-converged products have four major advantages:

  • Storage Architecture – The biggest difference between hyper-converged architecture and the traditional architecture is that the storage architecture is different. The traditional architecture uses centralized storage, while the hyper-converged architecture uses distributed storage. Distributed storage is faster than centralized storage, and the hyper-converged dual-copy mechanism also makes data storage safer.
  • In terms of integration – the hyper-converged architecture is a highly integrated computing, network, and storage integration. The traditional architecture is separately scheduled and managed.
  • In terms of scalability – hyper-converged architecture is a building block construction, which can be expanded linearly and quickly on demand. Traditional storage expansion is difficult, and there is an IO bottleneck.
  • Product price – about 30-60% of the cost can be saved.

On September 10, 2021, U.S. Federal Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers came to a conclusion of Apple vs Epic Games and issued an injunction to Apple. What is it? Well, Apple can no longer restrict developers to use its exclusive in-app purchase system. This means, they can now, use their own in-app purchase system, which is a huge win for developers across the world and a major blow to Apple.

As an app distributor, Apple takes from 15% to 30% profit of an app’s digital goods sales. The decision also put an end to the long-standing battle between app developers and Apple, which will further allow them to implement their own payment gateway on their apps on App Store.

Interestingly, App makes a huge sum of profit from this developer fee, and in 2020, it was respected that Apple made over $64 billion USD solely from App Store. Not only that but the result and the effect of this latest decision reflects on Apple stock, which dropped over 2 percent on Friday.

App Store and Play Store

Curbing Competition:

This latest development in the court also highlights how the App Store platform is monopolized against developers and helps to curb competition. Apple won platform won on nine out of 10 counts but was found guilty according to anticompetitive conduct under California law.

Therefore, the law decided to force the change on App Store policies and ordered the tech maker to approach soft on in-app purchases from December 2021.

“The Court concludes that Apple’s anti-steering provisions hide critical information from consumers and illegally stifle consumer choice,” Rogers wrote. “When coupled with Apple’s incipient antitrust violations, these anti-steering provisions are anticompetitive and a nationwide remedy to eliminate those provisions is warranted.”

“Given the trial record, the Court cannot ultimately conclude that Apple is a monopolist under either federal or state antitrust laws,” Rogers wrote.

On the other hand, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney made comment on the ruling, saying the ruling isn’t a win for developers or for consumers. Epic is fighting for fair competition among in-app payment methods and app stores for a billion consumers.

Apple Vs Epic:

Epic Games, an American video game and software developer, is well known for its games and the game engine. The company has developed and distributed Fortnite, one of the most famous online multi-play games.

The game offers V-bucks, the in-game currency to purchase costumes and other in-game products. The consumer needs to purchase V-bucks using real currency, and the entire purchase part is handled by Apple’s payment system.

Epic wasn’t seeking money from Apple, instead, it wanted to be allowed to install its own app store on iPhones, which would let it bypass Apple’s cut and impose its own fees on games.

This is where a clash began between the two companies, in August 202, Epic Games updated Fortnite on its servers to reduce the price of V Bucks by 20 percent if players purchase this currency directly through Epic Games’ payment system.

This bypasses Apple’s own payment system and its fee cut. In the aftermath, Apple removed Fortnite from App Store and due to the outdated software support, the app stopped working on iPhones. This scenario brought Epic’s subsequent lawsuit against Apple.

Apple Google

Epic and Google and Play Store:

Aside from Apple, Epic has also filed legal action against Google over the same issue on Play Store. Similar to Apple, the same fate could decide for Google.

Back on July, 36 U.S. states sued Google for its bad practices over Play Store Monopoly. The lawsuit claims that Google is keeping other developers out of competition in the application market, what we’ve saw on Apple App Store.

The Assistant Attorney General at Utah, Western United States files the antitrust lawsuit to challenge Google in the California central court. The plaintiff namely includes the following main provinces, who are leading the case at the moment.

  • Washington, DC
  • Utah
  • North Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • New York
  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • Iowa
  • Nebraska

The plaintiff accused Google to seek 30% commission sale revenue from the developer who wants to list their app on the Google Play Store via a new policy. Furthermore, it’s reported that Google plans to apply this new policy in September 2021, also forcing the developers to use solely Google Payment System for any transaction being made on Play Store.

The lawsuit claims, Google’s 90% market share in the Android app market was made possible by its deal with smartphone makers, which agrees to put Google services as default for the consumers.

The company didn’t plan to stop here, it also spent billions of dollars from its annual advertising revenue to spend on smartphone manufacturers, network carriers, and browsers to make Google their default search engine.

It’s mandatory for the developers to use Google’s online transaction methods to include any in-app purchase in their app on Play Store. It might help Google to keep a track of transaction records of digital goods.

Google tried to destroy the Samsung Galaxy Store app distribution platform and blocking Samsung from emerging as a rival to the company, says a report. The Android maker used monopolistic ways to dominate the Galaxy Store.

According to the recent information, a group of 36 U.S. states, which mainly includes Washington, Utah, North Carolina, Tennessee, New York, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, and Nebraska, etc filled an antitrust lawsuit against Google.

The prosecution challenges Google for illegally endeavoring to manage app distribution on the Android platform and compensating the app developers in order to prevent them from enlisting their works on other apps distributing platforms.

The lawsuit also stated this search giant approached popular developers to stop them from submitting their work on other app stores like Amazon AppStore and Galaxy Store.

Let’s begin our story from here-

Samsung Galaxy Store:

The Galaxy Store is the app distributive platform designed for Samsung smartphones and tablets that comes pre-installed on devices. It can be an alternative for Google Play Store.

It offers the same services as Play Store, users can download apps, games, themes, and more from the Galaxy Store. Furthermore, we can also find some exclusive lists of Samsung applications as well as third-party apps such as the battle royale game Fortnite.

Certainly, Google afraid to give an explanation for not providing the famous application, which is enlisted on Galaxy Store. Thus, it tried to harm the platform by using unfair means.

Whole Story:

It was reported that Google plans to take 30% as the commission charge on the sales of a developer’s work such as software application, service, etc, which is listed on Google Play Store.

Furthermore, Google also demands the developer to its online transaction system for any payment made on the Play Store.

Concerning this, the Epic Games launched a direct payment plan that avoids the Google Play Store payment system and saves the direct cut of 30 percent on in-app revenue purchases on the app.

However, the Samsung Galaxy Store still provides Fortnite installation for Android users, which could challenge Google Play Store. Keep in mind that we are only discussed one example of Google trying to harm Samsung but there are more and similar cases like this.

Dealing with the above situation, Google tried tricky moves to slaughter Galaxy Store as we discussed earlier. It tried to bribe the famous developers as they won’t list their apps on Galaxy Store. We all know, at what level this action could harm the Samsung platform.

Previous Allegation of Epic Games: Google also approach OnePlus & LG

As I said earlier, Epic Games faces the same situation after bypassing the Google Payment System. The game developer accused Google to quash rival app distribution practices in its lawsuit against the Android maker back last year.

The Epic Games alleged Google to forcing the smartphone maker OnePlus to make void the agreement where the company agrees to install a special Fortnite launcher on its device. Furthermore, the company also claims that Google stopped LG to launched its smartphones with a pre-installed games app made by Epic.

Google’s Respond: Feasible Protocol

Reacting to this situation, the Senior Director of Public Policy at Google named the above situation groundless, which overlooks the supportive features of Android.

Further describing he said, Android provides both ways- downloading from Play Store, and sideloading, which is rare in other manufactures (indicating Apple, as iPhones don’t support sideloading, you can only download from the default store)

Furthermore, other phone makers can also install their own third-party app store on Android smartphones and tablets. That’s the reason we can find Android devices with two or more app stores, says the Public Policy Director.

Conclusion:

Certainly, Google is a leading provider of mobile internet-related services across the world. The company holds a big users data in the world, we all rely on Google for our needs, you can take an example from searching news to recipes to jobs or doing works on the application provided by it.

All I want to say that a big company like Google playing tricks on others clearly indicates that it’s harming other firms and holding them back to grow its own products.

To conclude, I only reached two reasons behind these actions of Google. First, Google is no more confident about its own products for quality services. And the second possibility is that the company badly wants to acquire the whole smartphone app market by doing cheating.
