During HDC 2022, Huawei launched various HarmonyOS technologies and the company also shared how it could run different devices as compared to Apple.

Yu Chengdong, Huawei Consumer Bussiness Group CEO said Huawei uses one operating system for all of its devices. These include various devices such as:

  • Smartphones
  • Tablets
  • Smartwatches
  • Smart TVs
  • Smart cars
  • Smart things

In June 2021, Huawei unveiled HarmonyOS for smartphones and other consumer devices with the slogan “One as all, All as one”.  Afterward, Huawei started seeding it for smartphones using OTA software updates.

huawei harmonyos for various devices

Apple:

Apple began its journey on consumer devices solely with iOS, later on, the top tech maker distributed the operating system according to the platform.

These are:

  1. iOS for iPhones
  2. iPadOS for iPads
  3. watchOS for smartwatches
  4. tvOS for smart TVs
  5. macOS for Apple computers

Yeah, these have their own specialties but they also share developer comfort in terms of compatibility.

Compatibility and user interface:

Compared to Apple, Huawei has been focusing on major compatibility features for the HarmonyOS operating system from the very beginning. And in the past two years, Huawei made major progress in this matter.

HarmonyOS 2 was used on smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, smart TVs, smart devices, smart cars, IoT devices, and more. This OS could run up to 128KB of memory-supported devices, which Apple cannot do due to its closed-source policy.

Furthermore, HarmonyOS 3 has strengthened the core elements of its predecessor with a number of new features and optimizations to improve the user experience.

Huawei designed this smart operating system to run on various devices, which is allowing it to increase installation all over the world. At Huawei Developer Conference 2022, Huawei Consumers Business Group CEO, Yu Chengdong announced HarmonyOS operating system exceeds 320 million installations.

harmonyos 320 million

The growth of the OS was recorded by over 113 percent as compared to last year. The flip side shows that HarmonyOS Connect devices have grown by over 250 million and there’s a 212% on-year growth.

At the event, Huawei also released HarmonyOS 3.1 and confirmed that the HarmonyOS 4 will launch next year. There’s a lot more to come on HarmonyOS and we’ll keep you posted.

Yu Chengdong – the head of Huawei smart car solutions recently shared his thoughts on the future of China’s auto market. He mentioned that only 5 major tech giants that will rule over the auto merchandise.

Surprise or shock, but this is the actual point. Huawei CEO believes that the time ahead will bring such competition in the China auto market that only a handful of creators will be able to survive and bring out the best inventions.

According to him, the competition among auto brands will be as similar to the aircraft manufacturing industries. Although, the CEO has not defined any automobile cooperation specifically. But, he gave a hint by saying that AITO is capable of selling 20,000 units per month.

Sarcastically, the personality also says that it is better to opt for a fuel vehicle than purchase an extended-range vehicle. Currently, large-battery hybrids are almost similar to pure-electric vehicles and don’t have many differences.

Huawei CEO China Auto Market

But electric vehicles are best!

However, in the latter half of the interview, Yu corrected himself and said that extended-range smart cars are far better than fuel vehicles. Whether we talk about performance or functionalities, pure electric vehicles are the best.

Further, Yu Chengdong has shared his experience of driving an AITO smart car in his daily life. He compared the performance with the Porsche Cayenne that he used to drive in his early days, and said:

“The fuel consumption per 100 kilometers was five or six liters which was more than half of the Porsche Cayenne, but the acceleration performance was higher than that of the Cayenne. It is Half the fuel consumption, double the acceleration performance.”

Yu on Weibo wrote that AITO doubles the performance and reduces fuel consumption by half. This is not just a slogan, but a real value and experience that consumers can get.

Huawei CEO China Auto Market

Except for the AITO, the CEO didn’t mention any other brand. Hence, it’s not possible to say which brand will continue its journey successfully in the future. But we cannot deny the fact that Huawei is a well-known car solution provider in the automobile industry. Thus, it knows very well which smart automation can take over the market in the upcoming years.

Huawei has recently attended the 2022 World Design Capital Conference. At this event, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Huawei claimed that various Chinese companies residing in the market are constantly replicating their designs and patents.

Adding more, the CEO of Huawei said that these Chinese companies are taking such actions without any permission. They are repeatedly copying our designs, patents, themes, and whatnot, without imposing the official seal of Huawei.

Further, the companies not only use these matters directly but also term them as their materials. Eventually, this is quite more than the tag of copycat. Though the CEO hasn’t pointed out any specific firm. But showing his concern, he said the following words:

“Including some of our patents, people don’t pay us patent fees when they use them. They use them directly, and then claim that they are their patents. Even some things are directly copied.”

Since Huawei fetches meaningful and attractive patents as well as designs. Hence, it’s possible to get reports of Huawei being copied. However, no one would appreciate the duplication of their work until they aren’t getting the credit for it.

Huawei Theme – Chinese Design, World Brand

Yu Chengdong also conveyed his thoughts on the design concept of the company. He states that every Huawei product design arrives from the genetic inheritance of the other elements. That is why it is often termed the Huawei product family.

Yet, we cannot ignore that almost every Huawei device carries a unique and different look on its surface. Alternatively, the company modifies and evolves the dimensions in such a way that it could attract users in all possible manners. A good example is the Mate 50 series, rolling on extreme simplicity with a pure and advanced layout.

On the flip side, the design concept isn’t a one-sided thing. It equally depends on how consumers look towards it. This is how Yu describes the philosophy of great design:

I think a great design can only pass the test of time. The more people look at the product, the more high-end it is. The more you look at it, the more you like it. And this is what the concept of the great design is.”

Though Huawei is trying to shift towards the simplicity mode and pass the test of time for the designs. Yet, it also requires the votes of the audience to make the design more ethenic in the world of new and attractive technologies.

Huawei is doing well enough in all the fields at the present moment. The company has launched some of the best technical solutions. Apart from the innovative devices and huge tech giant of the world, Huawei has also achieved the badge of the global 5G leader.

But the irony lies in the fact that despite the success, and the 5G leader achievement, Huawei CEO – Yu Chengdong believes that the company has a lot to work on. That’s not it. The CEO has also mentioned the loopholes that create losses for the company.

In July this year, Yu Chengdong met with the media. On asking how he feels as the company finally accomplished the tag of the global 5G leader, the CEO gave a sarcastic reply with the following statement:

“Huawei as a global leader in 5G, is the only manufacturer selling 4G mobile phones in the 5G era.”

Though the statement was a snarky pinch over the company. Yet, it gave a sign of what the CEO wanted to deliver to the ears of the firm. He was trying to convey the message that this is just the beginning and there is a lot to cover in the upcoming days.

Huawei 5G Leader

Major Aspects to Work on!

Yu has reported that Huawei smartphones have seen a huge decline in recent times. Besides, the company chips are far from production, and such reasons have made a huge negative impact on the offline retention scenario.

However, let’s not forget that the company has made some positive deeds as well. And becoming the global 5G leader is one of the top-listed rewards for the Chinese tech maker. On the other hand, it is constantly making efforts for the 5.5G solution that can ultimately bring evolution from 5G to 6G.

Speaking of the 5G core network for which Huawei has been awarded the 5G leader, it relies upon four key factors. These are – architecture flexibility, network rigor, solution maturity, and network automation. Thus, binding the answers to all the technical questions in one band.

Though at this moment, the work might be slow, Huawei knows how to tackle the obstacles and form a good path to walk on.

Recently, Huawei brought the large and super-agile SUV – AITO M7 into the midst of its consumers. Undoubtedly, the Chinese manufacturer has featured some extraordinary elements in the vehicle. But a new customer with Huawei AITO M5 questions the hybrid technology of the company.

According to sources, the CEO of Weipai, Li Ruifeng, has recently posted a statement on Weibo. The sentence highlights the Huawei AITO M5 SUV along with the term hybrid technology. As per the Wei brand, these new generation smart vehicles are imposed on those mechanisms that are way backward.

The whole debate scenario took along when Huawei’s CEO uttered the following words on social media, “the improvement and popularization of charging piles will take time, and the extended-range model is currently the most suitable new energy vehicle mode”

Huawei AITO M5 Hybrid Technology

In reply, the CEO continues his opposition to the AITO M5 by posting the car key and purchase invoice. According to him, there are several other cars such as Smart DHT, that are using far better technologies.

“Blacksmithing also needs to be hard on its own. It is an industry consensus that the program-added hybrid technology is backward. Smart DHT is a better new energy technology in the world. Yu Chengdong said that the extended range car is not advanced enough and is nonsense”

It looks like, the personality is trying to prove that his DHT-PHEV tech vehicle is a much more upgraded version of automobiles than AITO.

Hybrid Technology is important!

Although, Huawei CEO, Yu Chengdong does not agree with Li’s statements. He clearly states that a car without extended range or any hybrid technology is just a pure electric vehicle. On the other hand, techs like hybrid mechanisms give a defined structure to the product.

By seeing the booking reports, it doesn’t seem that the AITO M7 SUV is getting down in the market. Instead, it is a new and tough competitor among other automobile firms. Let’s see where this debate turns around in the time ahead.
