Android 14 is the next software version for the Android ecosystem. On February 8, Google stepped ahead to begin the development of this major upgrade with the first developer beta.

Google has released the roadmap for the development, beta testing, platform stability, and the final release of Android 14, which reveals meet the launch of Huawei HarmonyOS 4 later in the second half of 2023.

The first developer preview is already out for the Pixel devices. However, Google could open early access to other smartphone makers such as OnePlus by April when the open beta campaign kicks off.

As mentioned by the Android company, Android 14 is projected to reach platform stability by the end of July. But there’s still a possibility of these milestone timelines to delay, similar to last year.

Over the past years, Google has gained immense power in the tech industry and now it has been sued by the US Department of Justice over an alleged monopoly control over the advertisement market.

According to the information, the antitrust lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice on Google claims that the search giant has monopolized the digital ad market.

The DOJ is joined by 8 U.S. states in the lawsuit including New York, California, and Colorado. These states blame Google for curbing digital competitiveness and curbing other businesses.

“Google has corrupted legitimate competition in the ad tech industry by engaging in a systematic campaign to seize control of the wide swath of high-tech tools used by publishers, advertisers, and brokers to facilitate digital advertising.” says the lawsuit.

While being filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the lawsuit wants to force Google to see much of its suit of ad technology products, which includes software for buying and selling ads.

DOJ described Google’s behavior on this matter.

“Google’s plan has been simple but effective: (1) neutralize or eliminate ad tech competitors, actual or potential, through a series of acquisitions; and (2) wield its dominance across digital advertising markets to force more publishers and advertisers to use its products while disrupting their ability to use competing products effectively.

Each time a threat has emerged, Google has used its market power in one or more of these ad tech tools to quash the threat. The result: Google’s plan for durable, industry-wide dominance has succeeded.”

Google:

Despite being sued by U.S. DOJ, Google rephrased that the digital advertisement market is healthy and competitive, citing strong competitors such as Meta, Amazon, and Microsoft.

Google has published an official answer to this lawsuit saying “DOJ is doubling down on a flawed argument that would slow innovation, raise advertising fees and make it harder for thousands of small businesses and publishers to grow.”

Google also pinpointed that the government should not pick between winners and losers in a competitive industry, which makes sense in the right way. However, Google also said that such a lawsuit will be a drawback for its advertisement technology designed for the advertisement industry.

“Threaten the free and fair markets upon which our economy is based. We will aggressively protect consumers, safeguard competition and work to ensure economic fairness and opportunity for all.” Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said monopolies.

Google Play Store has been causing some unlawful trouble for Android users in the US. As per the input revealings, the company is alleged by the California lawsuits of preserving forbidden Play Store rules and disobeying US anti-competition laws.

The story begins in July this year. The major authorities of 36 states sued the US tech maker. Accordingly, the authorities claimed that Google puts pressure on the developers for opting the Play Store practices irrespective of their convenience.

In addition, many app developers reported that Google forces them to use the Play Store in-app purchase system which cost 30% commission. Consequently, these steps keep Google far away from the market competition.

Thus, Google alleged for following illegal marketing concepts and creating trouble for Android users with Play Store rules. In the latest edition, the California lawsuits have proceeded with this matter as a consumer class action of 21 million individuals.

For your information, a class action is a type of regulation where a large number of people takes legal action against the same problem. Here, the class action consists of Android users of 12 US states including Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

Eventually, this class action sought out damage of 4.7 billion USD. Meanwhile, California judge James Donato said in an order [PDF] that the company has halted the legal common practices for the tech makers in the market which leads to anti-competitive business.

Google denies the allegations

Significantly, Google kept its points in front of the lawmen and denied the allegations. The company said that they are working under legal rules and regulations without harming users’ concerns.

“We’re evaluating the ruling and after that, we’ll assess our options.”

It’s worth mentioning that Google has rolled out the user billing system to comfort developers worldwide. With this feature, developers can utilize their own in-app purchase system without making a share in the Play Store. However, the respective feature has still some time to come into effective usage.

Huawei Watch Buds seems an amazing 2 in 1 smart wearable, which has now leaked in a short hands-on. It’s the first time, the smartwatch has appeared in public but is yet to announce officially.

According to the short video, Huawei Watch Buds come with a design similar to Huawei Watch GT 3 series. However, the watch consists of two earbuds inside.

To access earbuds, you first need to open the smartwatch from the bottom side and lift it upwards just like a box or a suitcase. Resting inside, there are two cylindrical earbuds.

On the other hand, there are no special designs on earbuds and they are pretty tiny. As you can see in the video, there’s a placeholder for them to fit in.

Press and release button:

The video also shows that there could be a press-to-release button on the above side of the smartwatch. Once pressed, it could release the lock to reveal the inside. Still, the watch is simple and there’s no significant gain appearing in the width.

Previous retail box reveals that the smartwatch will be powered by HarmonyOS operating system.

Huawei has not revealed any specific details of the launch of this new smartwatch but we’ll have to wait to find out more information.

The Huawei Watch Buds is surely an amazing smartwatch and the leaked hands-on has excited us even further. However, this led us as a reminder of the past innovation that Huawei has made in the world of smart wearables.

Huawei Talk Talkband B6 is a prime example, which allows you to convert the smart band into an in-ear Bluetooth earphone. The recently released Huawei Watch GT Cyber could allow you to release the watch dial out of the frame.

We’ll keep you updated with new inputs, until then, do follow us on our social media handles and on Google News.

Huawei and its satellite communication are once again in the headlines. After Apple, it looks like Samsung is planning to follow Huawei and implement satellite communication technology on its flagship gadgets.

Satellite Communication technology is gradually becoming a trend in the market. In recent times, we come across several tech makers that are trying to adopt the respective feature for their devices or operating systems.

After Huawei, satellite communication enlisted Apple, Google (Android 14), and now Samsung. While Apple has already offered the benefits of satellite features with iPhone 14 series, Google and Samsung are in the preparation phase.

The latest information reveals that Samsung has associated with Iridium cooperation and is finalizing the satellite communication development for its next flagship smartphone – the Galaxy S23 series.

In our previous reports, we mentioned that Samsung is looking for a satellite connectivity provider other than Globalstar. This was so because Apple already merged with Globalstar for satellite features.

Thus, Samsung decided to take different steps in this tech concept. Eventually, it seems like the Korean tech maker has found the right companion to proceed with the new technology.

Samsung and Iridium

Speaking of the Iridium group, the cooperation utilizes the 66 low-orbit communication satellites. This framework offers effective voice and data communication services for users without any network hindrances.

On the flip side, the info states that Samsung has been working on satellite communication technology for the past two years. In the meantime, the company was dealing with antenna challenges as to how to make it a compact and power-efficient element.

Consequently, just like Huawei and Apple, Samsung’s main objective is to provide its users with immersive voice, messages, and image transmission facilities. And who knows, we could find the satellite tech with Galaxy S23 in the first quarter of 2023.

Satellite Communication – A long race!

Huawei is the first company to bring satellite communication features with the dynamic Mate 50 series. Ultimately, the feature is capable of relieving communication services even in low-area networks.

Thus, a user with Huawei Mate 50 smartphone can conduct calls, send a 19-20 characters text, scan a code 8-10 times, and generate trajectory maps and locations.

On the other hand, Huawei is making the corresponding feature more useful with the Mate 60. Yes, the internal tweaks suggest that the new version of this technology will enable two-way communications, sending voice messages, and making short voice calls as well.

It won’t be wrong to say that when it comes to technology and innovation, Huawei remains one step ahead.

Know More: Huawei Mate 60 may launch new Satellite Communication Features

Apple iPhone 14 series – SOS feature

Following Huawei, Apple also launched the iPhone 14 series with satellite features. It has implemented the Emergency SOS feature which combines with the software and connects antennas directly to the satellite.

As a result, this mechanism starts messaging functions with emergency services. Being an iPhone 14 user, you can use the feature under low-network or Wi-Fi coverage.

Android 14 is also on the list!

Yes, Android 14 has also appeared in the satellite communication headlines. The information states that Google is also making efforts and could initiate satellite features on the next coming Android version.

In the time ahead, we could see many competitors in this tech field. But it would be worth seeing which manufacturer will remain in the first position regarding satellite communication.

Android 13 and its interesting features are a vast topic to discuss among users. And today we are up to tell how well the Android 13 operating system is working on the old Pixel devices.

To begin with, Google launched the stable Android 13 in August for its Pixel smartphones. Thereafter, the company began to roll out the latest operating system to other OEMs and their gadgets.

While the U.S. tech maker is still testing new features and pushing off the Android 13 QPR1 beta iterations to its flagship Pixel phones, some users are discussing how Android 13 works on the old Pixel series.

A Pixel 5 user come around the Reddit table and described how Android 13 has offered the best experience. So far, the user was having trouble while performing certain actions on the Pixel phone.

However, after upgrading to the latest Android 13, the device system and its performance is quite responsive and convenient. Alongside this, the user states that privacy and UI are the best segments that get better with every new update.

“Android 13 on my Pixel 5 has been absolutely the best experience I’ve had on a smartphone ever. It is fast, elegant, etc. I like had to fight my phone to get it to do what I want – which is the exact opposite of now that I have Android 13 on my Pixel 5.”

In addition, the user also draws attention to the camera quality. Eventually, the camera quality remains absolute even when not in frequent usage. In short, the users state that Android 13 is much better than previous builds, which often have issues with stability and the lens hood.

Android 13 is a favorite for many users!

In the meantime, many other users also agreed that Android 13 is doing well with their 2 or 3-year-old Pixel smartphones. Notably, the newly-released operating system provides a better experience in many aspects.

For instance, fingerprint sensors, face unlocking, eye-catching UI elements, smart and efficient widgets, Material You, themed icons, and whatnot. On the flip side, there is a huge list of revamped features and functions.

Android 13 QPR1 beta and its issues

Even after many positive points, Android 13 is surrounded by various negative comments. To be specific, the fresh QPR1 beta packs have proved vain and trouble for many Pixel device owners.

Up to this point, we come across a variety of issues that appeared in the Android 13 QPR1 beta iterations. While some users were stuck with the App Switcher bug, other users were busy dealing with the camera and screen defects.

Moreover, the very famed addition – Material You also caught some glitches when a user upgraded the device to the beta 3 rollout. Together, these issues made the users think twice before installing new firmware.

It’s not confirmed how many more beta iterations Google will release for its users. However, the issues with new builds and benefits of the old versions have made it clear that the previous stable Android 13 works well on both old and new Pixel devices.

Which firmware are you using, the stable one or the newly-released beta firmware? Let us know your experience with Android 13, in the comment section.
