According to the report, the analysis has tested over 5 billion apps combining both on Google Play and App Store. Among them, a total of 813,000 mobile applications has been found breaching users’ privacy, which accounted for 15% of the total applications available on these app markets in the first half of 2021.

The false apps have been delisted by the providers to avoid any further harm. However, data shows that the corresponding apps on Google Play account for around 9.3 billion downloads and 21 million reviews for the App Store, which shows their immense popularity.

The app that violated COPPA accounts for 86% of the Google apps and 98% of the Apple apps. More interestingly, around 66 percent of the apps are working after granting at least one dangerous permission. Meanwhile, 27% of the apps can access the location tracker, “19% of them can access devices’ camera”. That is horrible.

If a developer wants to submit his application on the Play Store only, it’s a good choice to have the AAB. But those end users who still want the APKs, have to look for alternative stores or do struggle in exporting AABs and it won’t support others for now.

Second Issue:

This is the most concerning one as the developers have to provide the signing key of their apps to Google in order to export AAB files as an APK. Certainly, this action will give Google the supreme powers to access the core of the app.

Speaking of the app signing key, it works as authoritative power for a specific developer, which denotes the creation of a particular app. If someone else has the signing key, he can use it to command the app and gain the benefits as some developers aren’t sharp enough to manage the AAB format yet.

According to the latest information, the first batch of these new features are started to roll out and will gradually expand for everyone in June.

New Feature and Changes:

Talking about the new exciting feature with more user convenience includes key controls on the bottom bar, various buttons to prevent the accidental camera on/off, pined content, and the ability to adjusting chats list or attachments.

Furthermore, users can adjust the floating pictures and are able to resize reposition or hide it. The participant, who is giving a presentation or asking questions, or giving suggestions will is in a visible blue colored border.

This new UI redesign update is rolling out since Monday, May 24 on limited personal and workspace accounts across the globe.

When Expand:

The company has announced that it will begin appearing for “scheduled release” enterprise domains on June 1. Until then users will have to wait.

When Available for Desktop Users:

For the desktop users of Google Meet, it will also come to Meet conference rooms in the coming weeks. Google will soon make a way to reach this for the Desktop users.

Found Issues:

The users who already get this new version encountered some distribution in it and reported them. The listed issues are mentioned below:

1. Missing videos
2. Incomplete Captions
3. Mirroring effect
4. Flickering on the presented content on Chrome browser
5. Blue outline is occasionally on a non-speaking participant

Moreover, users can solve these issues using various ways for the moment but a permanent solution is yet to come. While screen sharing, sharing a tab instead of a window or entire screen, and restarting the Chrome browser might help you to solve this problem momentarily.

However, the users who already get this new updated UI design can switch from the new look to the previous look until the 10th of June from the pre-call greenroom. After that, this new UI will become inevitable for all the consumers of Google Meet.

The long list of tasks handles by Google Assistant includes making calls, setting up the navigation, controlling the music playback, and reading call and message notifications.

Google Assistant manages all these works gracefully as long as you are not making any calls. Because, when it comes to making calls via this virtual assistant, it has some issues in regard to outgoing audios.

Issue:

To be more clear, when the users make a call via Google Assistant, it works just fine but the receiver of the call wasn’t able to hear any voice during the call.

On the other hand, if someone calls the driver and he/she picked up the call, it seems to be working perfectly. There is no voice issue on both ends.

Response:

When Google came to know about this behavior of Google Assistant in Android Auto. The team thoroughly investigate the whole matter and concluded the result- Android Auto 6.4 update. Early in this month, an Android Auto team member stated,

Thanks for your feedback. The Android Auto team has already released a fix to address this.

However, if you’re still facing this issue, we recommend updating the Android Auto app to the latest version (rolling out soon) and inform us of any further issues.

Result:

The 6.4 update doesn’t seem to resolve this issue completely, users are complaining about the same problem even after installing the latest update.

Meanwhile, Google is still investigating this matter and hasn’t provided any other solution yet to resolve this. As of now, we can only wait for the next command from Google.
